Ragnarok Online is not new at all. Released in 2002, it is one of the oldest RPGs still existing and kicking in. However, it could be boring after all this time. This is when Ragnarok Online private servers kick in to make your life easier. There are lots of upgrades and changes, so the game seems relatively new. However, with so many options out there, what is the best server to try? Or better said, what kind of specifications should you look for in a private server?
Population
Most importantly, you need a massive scene. Some servers have less than 100 players hanging around. It might be alright if you are just getting into the game and you are trying to discover it. You do not want random people attacking you within the first few hours. As you get used to the game mechanics, it becomes boring. You feel lonely. You need more players and a high database.
Starting in a large scene is not a bad idea. You want a fairly dense population and probably more than 1,000 active players. There will be plenty of space for your quiet days, as well as lots of action if you feel strong. Simply put, when choosing a server, make sure it has an active database – research it or check its chat rooms and forums.
Pay to win
Some people will do anything to win and would not be worried about spending money. Some others never pay for games and especially to win. At this point, games become a bit unfair. A little pay to win here and there will not ruin the server. But the less pay to win you have, the more accurate the final scores will be. Luckily for its players, Immortal RO does a pretty good job at it.
On another note, if a player spending 500 hours in the game cannot get an item that a donor will get in a minute, the gaming principle is ruined.
Events
Nothing is better than rocking your favorite music and attending events on Ragnarok Online private servers. The more events you have, the better. They can be in game, but they can also be out game – suitable for those who live in the same area. The game has the ability to establish some great friendships, but players need to work together.
Management
Gamemasters are critical for the success of Ragnarok Online private servers. Hands off management is alright and will let the game move on. Involved managers are ideal, as they listen to requests and try to make the game better for everyone. However, poor management will easily ruin a server, so never overlook this aspect.
Bottom line, there are lots of Ragnarok Online private servers to choose from. Some of them are better than others, of course. It is up to you to determine what suits you and your expectations. What works for some players will not work for everyone else, hence the necessity of a little research before making a decision.
